Job Description
The ideal candidate is not simply a technical Disaster Recovery engineer. We are seeking someone who can lead an enterprise-wide disaster recovery discovery and planning initiative.
This individual will partner with business leaders to identify critical business processes, work with technical teams to understand the systems that support them, uncover gaps and dependencies, and translate those findings into practical recovery strategies, runbooks, and documentation.
The consultant should be comfortable operating in an environment where some recovery processes are well established while others have limited or incomplete documentation. The goal is to deliver a comprehensive, prioritized, testable, and maintainable Disaster Recovery program covering the organization's business-critical applications and technology landscape.
Skills and Requirements
Demonstrated experience developing or managing enterprise Disaster Recovery programs. Experience conducting application discovery, Business Impact Analysis (BIA), application criticality assessments, or similar enterprise resilience activities. Strong understanding of RTO, RPO, application dependencies, recovery sequencing, backup and recovery strategies, high availability, and Disaster Recovery architecture. Experience developing detailed DR plans and technical recovery runbooks. Experience working directly with business stakeholders to determine technology dependencies and recovery requirements. Ability to understand and document complex environments spanning infrastructure, applications, databases, cloud services, SaaS platforms, and third-party services. Strong project management, facilitation, organization, and stakeholder-management skills. Excellent written communication and technical documentation skills. Ability to independently drive discovery activities and follow up with stakeholders to obtain required information. Experience with enterprise environments utilizing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. Familiarity with Azure Disaster Recovery technologies, backup and recovery services, and highly available cloud architectures. Experience with hybrid environments incorporating cloud, colocation/data center, and SaaS services. Experience conducting or facilitating DR tabletop exercises and technical recovery tests. Experience assessing third-party and SaaS vendor Disaster Recovery capabilities. Familiarity with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity frameworks and industry best practices. Experience developing sustainable DR governance, documentation standards, and recurring testing programs.
