Position Overview

Our focus is simple but meaningful, from our distribution centers to our stores and our offices — every employee of C&S/SpartanNash and their family of companies works to help feed local families, neighbors, and communities. As an Intern you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the wholesale grocery industry, contribute to meaningful projects, and better understand what goes into running one of the largest privately held companies in the US. You will have the opportunity to work alongside other interns and C&S employees to expand your network, participate in professional development opportunities, and enjoy some fun activities!

Responsibilities:

• Assist in daily operations and administrative tasks within the assigned department.

• Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and other documentation.

• Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance efficiency.

• Attend meetings, take notes, and contribute ideas and insights.

• Aid in further enhancing department tools, templates and methodologies

• Gain exposure and knowledge on department functionalities

• Develop positive professional relationships across departments

• Complete special projects as assigned by your manager

• Complete an end-of-internship presentation to showcase the completion of learning objectives

• Participate in IT retail-related projects relating to point-of-sale systems, scale management, computer assisted ordering, pharmacy systems, system integrations, and/or overall retail transformation

• Collaborate with business partners, other IT departments, and vendors to enhance our store users’ and external customers’ experience

• Assist with the second-level hardware/software support of the corporate stores’ POS and back-office systems

• 12-week internship from May to August

• Location: Byron Center, MI

We’re searching for interns that are:

• Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university

• Will have completed their Sophomore year by the start of the internship.

• In good academic standing, with a preferred minimum GPA of 3.0

• Currently majoring in Computer Science

• Proficient with Windows operating systems, SQL, scripting, AI tools, and customer service

• Have proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required)

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

• Demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

• Able to work both independently and collaboratively

• Are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

• Bring curiosity, initiative and willingness to learn and contribute
