Job Title: Construction Laborer Civil Construction

Job Description

This role is a hands-on construction labor position based in Lebanon, Indiana, focused on civil and commercial construction work. You will install and maintain silt fencing to prevent erosion, perform general labor tasks, and support site operations on a busy construction project. The position offers consistent hours, significant overtime potential, and the opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic environment that emphasizes safety, communication, and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain silt fencing systems to prevent erosion on civil construction sites.

  • Manually drive posts into the ground using a pneumatic post driver.

  • Attach fencing securely to steel T-posts and ensure proper installation in trenches created by a silt fence plow.

  • Clean accumulated sediment from fences using shovels to maintain their effectiveness.

  • Perform general civil and commercial construction labor tasks as directed.

  • Assist with light carpentry work, including constructing wooden signage when needed.

  • Maintain a high level of communication and situational awareness on a busy construction site with significant activity.

  • Follow all OSHA safety protocols and site safety procedures at all times.

  • Uphold professional appearance and behavior in accordance with the site code of conduct.

  • Work effectively in outdoor conditions across varying weather elements, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of recent experience as a civil laborer or construction laborer on a larger commercial construction site.

  • Hands-on experience in civil construction and general labor work.

  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and kneel repeatedly throughout the workday.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more to head level safely and consistently.

  • Proficiency in carrying steel T-posts and silt fence rolls over uneven terrain.

  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including hot, humid summers and cold, wet winters.

  • Strong communication skills and awareness of surroundings on an active construction site.

  • Commitment to following OSHA safety standards and site safety protocols.

  • Ability to maintain professional conduct and adhere to the site code of conduct.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) practices and erosion control is highly beneficial.

  • Experience in outside construction work and general labor on civil construction projects.

  • Commercial construction experience, particularly on large-scale projects.

  • Valid drivers license preferred, with the ability to be insured to operate company vehicles, allowing for potential travel to other job sites when requested.

  • Ability to work extended hours and manage physical demands associated with 1525+ hours of overtime per week.

  • Willingness to perform light carpentry tasks such as building wooden signage as needed.

Work Environment

Must be okay working outside in the elements of Indiana. It is hot in the summers and cold later in the season. The site operates under strict OSHA safety standards, and there is a high degree of activity, making clear communication and constant awareness of surroundings essential. Distracted operation is not tolerated. A professional appearance and professional behavior are required at all times in alignment with the sites code of conduct, which is explained during onboarding.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
