Lieutenant (#011260) Trenton Correctional Institution, Trenton (EDGEFIELD) Level 2

• Provides supervision of assigned personnel and be familiar with post orders, policies, and procedures.

• Supervise, direct, and control operations section's functions to ensure assigned duties are carried out and policies are adhered to.

• Conduct on-the-job training of assigned personnel to include briefings.

• Provide courteous and effective service to the general public, outside agencies, employees, and inmates.

• Provide security and control of all sensitive forms used in the operations section.

• Ensure accuracy of institutional counts.

• Record all gains, losses, authorized absences, etc. and documented properly.

• Maintain close working relationship with agency divisions to include classification and inmate records.

• Complete required reports timely and accurately.

• Receive and/or monitor calls from various agencies on operational matters.

• Coordinate all transportation requirements with transportation sergeant.

• Conduct routine/random rounds of assigned areas daily.

• Any and all other duties as assigned by administrative captain.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience. SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and three (3) years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.

• A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).

• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
