The Role and Why It's Important Our Fryers are the first step in bringing fresh, delicious donuts to our customers every day. In this role, you'll mix, cut, and fry donuts to order, working at a fast pace and taking pride in a consistent, quality product. If you are a self-starter who works well independently, takes pride in doing things right, and enjoys being part of a hardworking bakery team, we'd love to have you on board.

What You'll Do No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and making every interaction a positive one

• Mix, cut, and fry donuts to be sold to customers

• Review special orders and prepare them as needed

• Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout your shift

• Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call

• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment

• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required

• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines

• Report to work when scheduled and on time

Your Skills To be successful, you'll need to be able to:

• Follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail

• Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately

• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing

• Work at a fast pace independently with minimal supervision

Reporting Relationships Accountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager; Baker; Apprentice Baker

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required

• 6 months to 1 year of similar or related experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas

• Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation

• Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment

• Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards

• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment This role is performed in a bakery environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have daily exposure to noise and equipment movement hazards, with weekly exposure to cleaning chemicals or solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
