Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of the Administrator. As a Senior Advisor, GS-0301-15, you will serve as the primary technical authority and senior advisor to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), integrating agency-wide operational functions with high-level strategic policy initiatives.
Duties
- Serves as the primary strategic advisor to the COO, providing independent analysis and recommendations on matters affecting CMS operations, organizational performance, and agency-wide initiatives.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the COO's front office, ensuring workflow, correspondence, briefings, and decision packages are managed efficiently and meet quality standards.
- Directs numerous complex, high-priority special assignments that require extensive research, intensive fact-finding, and deep analytical synthesis.
- Manages interactions with HHS leadership, the CMS Administrator's office, OPM, OMB, and other federal partners.
- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Qualifications

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Providing authoritative direction and oversight on complex, multi-phase projects. 2. Developing a range of proposals for addressing challenging program issues; AND 3. Generating solutions and exercising a high degree of tact and diplomacy in resolving complex problems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
