Brown, our multidisciplinary team of technical writers, illustrators, engineers, programmers, analysts, logisticians, and data specialists delivers world-class technical documentation, information systems, training solutions, and logistics data support. Our experts develop clear, accurate documentation for complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems while providing systems analysis, information development, data conversion, and technical graphics that meet today's demanding customer requirements.

Our Technical Services team leverages the latest software, tools, and industry's best practices to deliver exceptional results. We are well-versed in current military and commercial documentation standards, including the evolving S1000D specification, ensuring our customers receive accurate, compliant, and high-quality technical publications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Technical Writer to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. This position is based in Cincinnati; Ohio requires daily in-person attendance. Remote work or telecommuting is not authorized for this role. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to collaboration, communication, and hands-on engagement with our team and operations. If you thrive in a dynamic, in-person work environment and are ready to contribute to impactful projects, we encourage you to apply. You will also be responsible for the following:

  • General knowledge of S1000D business rules, and how project-specific technical data is developed to a project book plan or technical data development plan.

  • Develop technical data by analyzing source data engineering data, including Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), 3D models, and drawings.

  • Ensure appropriate technical information and data are accumulated through researching and analyzing project engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications/documentation, and software description documents.

  • Be able to develop description and procedures to support maintenance and operations, as required by the project.

  • Ensure clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation is authored, and adhering to the processes and specifications for each project.

  • Be able to collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts such as engineers, technicians, and publications personnel.

  • Actively participate in team meetings, and interface with illustrators and production personnel to support the development of technical documentation.

  • Review, analyze, and determine impact of customer comments and redlines, and help team determine actions to resolve comments and follow through with management and/or customers.

  • Ensure assignments are completed in a timely manner to facilitate on-time delivery of technical data to our customer.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement objectives to achieve delivery and quality goals.

  • As required, travel to the customer site for Validation and Verification events.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have proven successful experience as a Program Manager within a technical publication environment. Additional qualifications include:

  • 2 or 4-year degree/or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years' experience in developing technical publications for commercial or military programs - including SGML/XML tagged data.

  • Must understand technical documentation specifications S1000D (Issue 4.1 or later preferred).

  • Solid technical knowledge/experience with the development of operational, maintenance, IPB, theory, and troubleshooting information/procedures for aircraft or ship systems.

  • Strong relationship-building, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in pressure situations and to meet tight deadlines.

  • Provide real-time status reporting of assignments.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • US Citizenship - Required.

  • Security Clearance-Active Secret - Required, or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance. U.S.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Turbine Engine experience

  • Experience using EAGLE Publishing System
