Job Duties
JOB PURPOSE:
Produce commercial grade upholstery pieces by preparing and sewing materials. A Sewing Specialist II will also train others to perform essential job functions and act as a key resource in the department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operate an industrial sewing machine.
Properly sew various pieces to quality standards using a variety of stitch types including single and double stich.
Perform nesting procedures using the computer.
Layout and cut materials using patterns, scissors and/or the cutting machine.
Visually inspect vinyl and finished pieces for quality defects.
Train others to perform job functions.
Perform vinyl and pad inventory as necessary.
Use Oracle to look up quantities on hand, perform subinventory transfers, and perform part transactions.
Read/comprehend CSS works orders and create part/pad as specified
Load vinyl racks using vinyl picker
Assemble and staple pads, trimming excess vinyl and thread as necessary
Box pads
Print labels using the computer
Complete paperwork as required
Maintain work area and hand tools; report issues/concerns as they arise
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Rotate into other duties and/or departments as directed
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent
Have passed the practical sewing test
Minimum one year of industrial sewing experience
Qualified in all areas noted above
Able to effectively train others
Operate a heavy-duty sewing machine, cutting machine, vinyl picker and staple gun
Perform Oracle transactions
Read and comprehend written instructions
Communicate effectively in English (speak, read, write and understand)
Self directed worker who thrives in a fast-paced team environment
Quality conscious and detail oriented
Computer skills necessary to accomplish nesting and label printing
Forklift operation preferred, but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lift up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Push/pull up to 2 lbs constantly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Occasionally reach overhead, stoop, use fine motor skills to thread machines.
Frequently stand, walk, sit, use find hand coordination when working with vinyl (sewing, upholstering), reach forward, operate foot pedal controls, focus vision close up.
Constant grasping of materials and tools.
Rotate tasks within the department.

Your base wage will be between $23.00 - $27.88 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. You'll have the opportunity to participate in the Production Bonus Plan, which provides opportunities to earn additional compensation based on performance metrics. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined.This position is eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked on 2nd shift, in addition to the base hourly wage.
