Robert Half Legal is partnering with one of beauty's most innovative brands any, to identify an experienced Commercial Counsel for an exciting part-time contract opportunity in New York City.

If you're a business-minded attorney who enjoys working closely with marketing teams, negotiating commercial agreements, and advising on trademark and branding matters, this is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing consumer brand known for innovation and creativity.

You'll serve as a key legal partner to the business, supporting influencer campaigns, strategic partnerships, commercial transactions, and intellectual property initiatives while helping build scalable legal processes in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Position Details

📍 Location: New York, NY (occasional in-office presence)

🕒 Schedule: 20-25 hours per week Flexible schedule

📅 Duration: Through year-end with potential for extension

💰 Pay Rate: $75-$100/hour

⏰ Availability: Must be available during EST business hours

What You'll Be Doing

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements

• Support influencer, talent, sponsorship, and brand partnership initiatives

• Advise on marketing, advertising, promotional campaigns, and content rights

• Counsel business leaders on trademark, branding, licensing, packaging, and IP matters

• Manage retailer, distributor, vendor, supplier, and manufacturing contracts

• Collaborate with outside counsel on specialized legal matters

• Develop legal templates, workflows, and contracting processes that help scale the business

• Provide practical, business-focused legal guidance across multiple departments

Requirements

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission.

• Approximately 5-10 years of legal experience, although exceptional candidates with 3-5+ years of relevant experience will be considered.

• Strong experience negotiating commercial contracts and advising on intellectual property matters.

• Prior in-house counsel experience strongly preferred.

• Experience serving as sole counsel or working within a lean legal department is highly desirable.

• Experience managing and collaborating with outside counsel.

• Background in beauty, cosmetics, fashion, luxury, retail, consumer products, lifestyle, or other consumer-facing industries preferred.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Comfortable operating in a startup-like environment where processes are evolving.
