As an E&I Maintenance Technician, you will help maintain the electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that enable safe operations, reliable production, and long-term asset performance. Your work directly supports Ruveon’s commitment to safety, reliability, quality, and delivering results for customers throughout agriculture.
Job Description
The E&I Maintenance Technician supports the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of manufacturing assets by troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, installing, and maintaining electrical, instrumentation, automation, and process control systems across the Muscatine site.
This role executes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities; supports equipment commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting efforts; documents work using SAP, and partners with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, Planning, and Maintenance teams to improve equipment performance and eliminate recurring failures.
The successful candidate is a hands-on problem solver who values safety, teamwork, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance
-
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment.
-
Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, install, and maintain Electrical Systems Including:
-
Pressure, temperature, level, flow, and analytical instruments
-
Control valves and valve positioners
-
Motors and motor control systems
-
Heat tracing systems
-
Electrical distribution equipment
-
PLC and DCS connected field devices
-
Grounding & bonding
-
Diagnose equipment failures and restore equipment to safe and reliable operation.
-
Support checkout, startup, commissioning, and operational readiness activities during plant turnarounds, projects, and routine operations.
-
Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and availability.
Reliability and Continuous Improvement
-
Identify recurring equipment issues and support root cause analysis efforts.
-
Partner with Reliability Engineers, Operations Teams, and Maintenance Leadership to implement long-term corrective actions.
-
Assist with defect elimination and reliability improvement initiatives.
-
Support continuous improvement activities focused on safety, uptime, quality, cost, and equipment performance.
-
Recommend improvements to equipment, procedures, and maintenance practices.
Work Management and Documentation
-
Use SAP and other maintenance systems to:
-
Review work orders
-
Identify material and spare parts requirements
-
Maintain accurate records, reports, and technical documentation.

Read and interpret:
-
Electrical schematics & wiring diagrams
-
P&IDs
-
Equipment manuals
-
Technical procedures
Safety and Compliance
-
Perform all work in accordance with site safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
-
Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safe work practices, permit requirements, and applicable maintenance procedures.
-
Support site Process Safety Management (PSM) expectations where applicable.
-
Identify and report safety concerns, equipment abnormalities, and operational risks.
-
Participate in safety observations, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
-
Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in accordance with 5S and housekeeping expectations.
Teamwork and Collaboration
-
Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Planning, and Capital Project teams.
-
Support troubleshooting efforts during operational upsets and plant interruptions.
-
Share technical knowledge and contribute to workforce development and continuous learning initiatives.
-
Participate in training, cross-functional problem solving, and capability-building activities.
Required Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Technical Capabilities
-
Demonstrated knowledge of industrial electrical and / or instrumentation systems.
-
Ability to troubleshoot and use electrical test equipment.
-
Ability to understand and maintain electrical systems.
-
Working knowledge of PLC and / or Distributed Control System (DCS) environments.
-
Ability to troubleshoot field devices connected to automation and process control systems.
-
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
-
Basic computer proficiency and ability to use SAP or comparable maintenance management systems.
Safety and Work Environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Three or more years of industrial electrical and / or instrumentation maintenance experience.

Associate degree, technical certification, vocational training, military technical training, or equivalent experience in:

Experience in chemical, agricultural, manufacturing, refining, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industrial environments.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $37.83-$43.69. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
