Position Summary

A home-based position, the Manager of Multimedia Development is responsible for managing and supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of multimedia assets and interactive learning experiences for K-12 learners. Reporting to the Director of Curriculum Development, the Manager supports and oversees a team of audio, visual, graphics, and animation developers responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing graphics, animations, audio, video, and multimedia to support the learning experience of our students, and for supporting and reviewing the design and development work of Pearson’s strategic partners.

The role provides both people leadership and operational leadership, ensuring multimedia solutions align with instructional goals, accessibility requirements, customer needs, business priorities, and project timelines. The Manager works closely with curriculum development, product management, product delivery, and external partners to ensure high-quality multimedia experiences are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of multimedia developers, enable career growth and professional development for direct reports, foster a culture of inclusivity and empowerment among team members.

  • Communicate effectively with curriculum development management, product development cross-functional agile team members, and members of product management.

  • Contribute to the refinement and prioritization of curriculum development features to include definition and validation of proof of concept, validation and analysis of feedback on MVP, and identification and definition of strategic partner needs.

  • Direct internal and vendor multimedia development teams in support of creating, testing, and implementing Pearson’s standards and requirements.

  • Plan, organize, and align resources and people to ensure successful project execution.

  • Works to design visually appealing interactive products.

  • Understand the capabilities/limitations of the available authoring and development tools to help inform design solutions and the application of instructional strategies.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and national curriculum and NSQ standards.

  • Demonstrate depth and/ or breadth of expertise in own specialized field and provides expertise to various stakeholders.

  • Has knowledge of best practices within own area of specialty and how it integrates with related areas of the business.

  • Direct the resolution of complex content area problems by applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.

  • Assist in strategic decisions that impact the business and help to influence decisions of senior leaders.

  • Has a measurable long-term impact on the results of content (course) performance and how it influences learner outcomes.

  • Identifies change initiatives for PVS curriculum and formulates strategies for effective change implementation across the organization and partner schools.

  • Establish and maintain internal and external relationships conducive to achieving department and company objectives.

  • Coach and manage both internal and external teams to aggressive and hard deadlines.

  • Minimize exposure and risk on project portfolio, including development of contingency plans.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, emerging technologies, and scalable production approaches within multimedia workflows.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in education, curriculum, or similar area preferred

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of multimedia, graphics, or animation development experience required, with assets to support asynchronous virtual learning preferred

  • Proven ability to lead a team, create a supportive work climate, and deliver results as a team

  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines while producing highly accurate, accountable work; very detail-oriented; editing/proofreading/fact checking/ experience preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of education management systems, learning management systems, and/or content management systems

  • Proficient with Microsoft® Office, Azure DevOps, and ability to learn other software programs and technology platforms quickly

  • Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires flexibility, self-direction, creativity, strong communication, and organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by factors including skill set, experience, and location.

The full-time salary range for this role is $85,000 – $100.000.

This position is eligible for Pearson’s annual incentive program. Information on benefits can be found here.
