Description
Direct Support Professional
Full Time, 37.50 hours per week
$20.00 per hour - $20.00 per hour
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
As a DSP, you will work directly with individuals with developmental/learning disabilities, providing services to the people we support so they can live independently and thrive in their communities. This could include, but is not limited to:

Community integration

Community travel and transportation
-
Money management and budgeting
-
Appropriate socialization/interactions
-
Healthy lifestyle skills/exercise

Medical appointments and understanding doctor’s orders
-
Additional skills needed to enable the individual to access the community and remain as independent as possible

Other instruction, services and supports as indicated by your supervisor.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
-
Possess good time management skills
-
Ability and desire to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
-
Ability to work 1-1 with an individual receiving services
-
Moderate level of written and oral communication skills
-
High level of interpersonal skills
-
Knowledge of behavioral techniques and developmental disabilities to assist in the care of individuals receiving services
-
Knowledge of computer and ability to utilize various software programs
-
Successful completion of First Aid, CPR, and Defensive Driving upon hire is required.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Preferred: One year pertinent experience in health and human service related field and experience with individuals with disabilities
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
Valid New York State Driver’s License in good standing and use of personal vehicle for transporting individuals receiving services.
