Location: 500 S. Meadow Street Ithaca, NY 14850 Availability Requirement for this role: Morning, afternoon, evening (includes weekends). Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older Time Type: Full time Pay Range: $75,000 - $80,000 / year

Job Description: In this role, you will manage and develop a store team of Asset Protection (AP) professionals responsible for executing the store’s security programs. You’ll be responsible for building relationships with store leadership and work together to mitigate risk and provide a safe environment for customers and employees to work and shop. This role also requires a commitment to continuous learning and completion of a series of training modules and seminars to be successful.

What will I do?

  • Lead our values, always help others and ensure Wegmans remains a great place to work for all
  • Manage and develop a team of employees, engage in meaningful conversations, build trusted relationships and provide the resources, feedback, and development opportunities they need to be successful
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with store leadership teams to communicate trends and proactive measures and provide updates regarding safety and security programs
  • Communicate priorities to the team and ensure safety programs are executed with high standards to create a positive shopping experience and a safe work environment
  • Coordinate and manage all store life safety and security systems; Provide guidance and support to employees and customers during emergency events
  • Foster a collaborative and professional relationship with community organizations, intelligence agencies emergency responders, and local retailers or trade organizations
  • Coordinate and lead the work of the AP team within the store, including external contract security and/or law enforcement while maintaining effective communication across all levels
  • Provide relevant updates and training to all store employees to increase safety and security awareness
  • Partner with store management to minimize loss and analyze, identify, and reduce causes of unknown shrink, while conducting investigations as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority in a military, municipal, county, state, or federal police agency
  • Valid License to carry a firearm
  • 1 or more years of experience leading a team
  • Ability to use good judgment and make difficult decisions that affect the safety and wellbeing of others
  • Systems Aptitude
  • Written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a training related role
  • Bachelors degree in related field
