Job Duties:• The Child Support Services County Attorney III is responsible for the preparation of Child Support Cases for Family Court; performance of activities in Court; the follow-up on these cases, including parent locate and processing of interstate cases; and is responsible for providing general child support services to clients as required or needed.

Represents out-of-state petitioners in reciprocal support suits and monitors outgoing UIFSA cases.

Negotiates complex settlement of Child Support cases with opposing counsel.

Prepares and monitors pleadings and preparation of cases for judicial hearings.

Responsible for trial of cases and appearance at Court or other judicial hearings.

Assists in coordinating at county level interrelationship between CSSD and Family Court personnel.

Handles appeals resulting from child support cases.

Performs job delivery and/or performance with positive or appropriate customer service delivery to clients, the public, and co-workers as an integral requirement.

Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, safeguarding systems, equipment and data.

Assists Regional Director and regional case manager supervisors in training new attorneys and case managers. Advises regional case managers in assigned counties.

Performs related duties as required, to include Red Cross or emergency shelter duty as assigned.
A Juris Doctor Degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney.
Necessary Special Requirement: Must be a member of the SC BAR.
Experience as a DSS Attorney preferred.

Must possess a valid driver's license. The employee must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) and write legibly. May be required to work after hours and/or some overnight travel and must be able to lift approximately 15-20 lbs.
