Job Title: Staff Accountant Cash Reconciliation (Entry-Level)

Job Description

The Staff Accountant Cash Reconciliation plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely cash accounting for multiple sales centers. You will complete daily cash reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies with sales center personnel, support month-end close activities, and perform administrative tasks that help the department operate efficiently. This role offers the opportunity to work with a seasoned team in a large organization and provides room for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily cash activity for assigned sales centers, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions.

  • Research and resolve cash variances by working directly with sales center personnel and other stakeholders.

  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts as part of the month-end close process.

  • Prepare adjusting journal entries, miscellaneous reclassifications, and other journal entries as needed.

  • Assist with the month-end close process, including supporting schedules and documentation.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as handling registrations, maintaining paperwork, and supporting departmental recordkeeping.

  • Maintain organized and timely documentation to meet strict deadlines and support audit and review requirements.

  • Collaborate with team members to improve reconciliation processes and enhance overall accounting accuracy.

  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally when providing customer service to internal and external contacts.

Essential Skills

  • Previous accounting experience preferred, with exposure to cash reconciliations and general ledger activities.

  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset with proven problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel, including the ability to work with pivot tables.

  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and month-end close processes.

  • Familiarity with accounting systems and the ability to learn new systems quickly (accounting system knowledge preferred).

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines consistently.

  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of personal ownership and follow-through to get tasks completed.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive, high-tenure work environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for customer service.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience working in a large corporate environment is beneficial.

  • Comfort working with reconciliations for multiple locations or business units.

  • Interest in developing deeper expertise in month-end close and balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Motivation to grow within the organization and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Work Environment

This position is based in a corporate office setting in the Jacksonville, Florida area, with work performed at a professional HR and administrative facility near Old Saint Augustine Road and the Baptist South area. You will work on standard office technology, including accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, with frequent use of Excel for reconciliations and reporting. The environment is team-oriented, with a supportive group of colleagues who have strong tenure and institutional knowledge. The role follows typical corporate business hours, with increased focus around month-end close deadlines. The atmosphere is professional, and you will be expected to maintain an organized workspace and present yourself in a manner consistent with a corporate office setting. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
