Job Title: Quality Manager / Receiving Inspector Job Description

This role oversees and performs receiving inspection and quality assurance activities to ensure that all incoming and in-process materials, components, and assemblies meet established quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. The position works closely with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams, using a variety of inspection tools and documentation to maintain a robust quality management system and support efficient, compliant production processes. This role may be assigned to an off-shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Apply general knowledge of Quality System Regulations and international standards to daily inspection and quality assurance activities.

  • Use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and thread gauges to check dimensions and processes on parts and raw materials for compliance with manufacturing drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Work closely with Quality Control Inspectors, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure all manufacturing and inspection activities follow process work documents.

  • Ensure in-process inspections are completed according to engineering specifications during the production process.

  • Perform mechanical, visual, and dimensional inspections of parts using hand inspection tools and dimensioned blueprints.

  • Perform or support CMM programming and inspection when trained and as needed.

  • Communicate with buyers regarding quality issues and concerns related to incoming materials or components.

  • Attach correct labeling to cartons and pallets, store product in the warehouse, and perform system transactions to adjust inventory accurately.

  • Read and work from blueprints to conduct visual and dimensional inspection of purchased or manufactured products using appropriate measuring instruments.

  • Inspect to verify dimensions and tolerances on drawings, and assess process control, procedures, standards, shop practices, and workmanship, including finish, tightness, burrs, cleanliness, and general appearance.

  • Match supplier packing slips to the correct product and quantity to ensure accurate receiving and documentation.

  • Inspect and test products according to documented quality assurance plans.

  • Accurately enter receipt data into the computer system and maintain up-to-date inspection records.

  • Perform and document final inspections in accordance with customer requirements and internal quality procedures.

  • Enter and disposition Non-Conformance Material Reports in line with standard procedures.

  • Safely unload incoming material and separate freight by supplier and product type.

  • Retrieve expedited products promptly to support production and customer delivery schedules.

  • Safely move and receive finished material to the material handling area according to skid type and handling guidelines.

  • Support safety and housekeeping procedures and comply with OSHA requirements and site safety policies.

  • Present inspected and received parts to customer representatives when required.

  • Perform tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader to achieve customer service and quality goals.

  • Interpret and monitor routine inspections of products, rework, and quarantined items, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Conduct examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, and components to verify compliance with established quality and reliability standards.

  • Participate in analysis of statistical data from processes to confirm compliance with standards or identify deviations.

  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance or rejection of inspected and tested items.

  • Identify design, process, or other inefficiencies and promptly report quality concerns and issues.

  • Perform routine quality inspections on assemblies and piece parts to ensure they meet specifications.

  • Verify and maintain records on incoming shipments from suppliers to ensure traceability and accuracy.

  • Ensure inventories are secure, properly identified, and readily accessible to authorized personnel.

  • Receive items into the stockroom, verify counts, and distribute parts as needed.

  • Interact with internal and external customers and vendors on a limited basis to resolve quality and receiving issues.

  • Perform analysis on mechanical and electromechanical parts and assemblies to determine compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards.

  • Plan the daily course of action and manage work schedule with limited supervision.

  • Train other inspectors when requested and share best practices for inspection and quality documentation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall quality performance and customer satisfaction.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality or a closely related role.

  • Practical knowledge of Quality System Regulations and international quality standards.

  • Hands-on experience with quality assurance, quality control, and quality management systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications for dimensional and visual inspection.

  • Proficiency using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and thread gauges for mechanical and dimensional measurements.

  • Strong understanding of quality standards and documented quality assurance plans.

  • Competence in basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and inventory transactions.

  • Ability to inspect and test products to documented QA plans and customer requirements.

  • Skill in preparing and completing documentation for acceptance or rejection of inspected items.

  • Capability to identify design or process inefficiencies and report quality concerns.

  • Experience conducting examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, and components.

  • Ability to work from blueprints to verify dimensions, tolerances, and workmanship criteria.

  • Capacity to plan and organize daily work with limited supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CMM programming and inspection is highly beneficial.

  • Background in analyzing statistical data from processes to confirm compliance or identify deviations.

  • Familiarity with non-conformance reporting and disposition processes.

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe material handling practices.

  • Experience interacting with internal and external customers and vendors regarding quality matters.

  • Ability to train other inspectors and share quality best practices.

  • Strong customer service orientation in supporting production and delivery goals.

  • Attention to detail in matching supplier packing slips, verifying counts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Work Environment

The position is assigned to B shift, working approximately 4:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., supporting off-shift production and receiving activities. Work involves regular use of mechanical inspection tools and computer systems for documentation and inventory transactions, with an emphasis on safe material handling and adherence to OSHA and housekeeping procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
