General Description
The Software Development Specialist 1 will perform analysis, development, testing, deployment, and support for new software applications using Java, Spring, Python, JUnit, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bootstrap, Maven, Gradle, MSSQL, Selenium, TestNG, JMeter, and Azure cloud products.
This position will be a junior full stack developer working with front- and back-end technologies to develop new, and support existing, applications to ensure they are secure, usable, scalable, and current.
This position will work with technical and non-technical teams to review requirements and create plans for application development and product deployments. It will ensure documentation is adequate to support new development.
The ideal candidate for the position will be a collaborative team player that has proficient verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce a quality work product with minimal supervision. This position will both maintain existing software applications and support new development efforts using the above noted technologies.
This position may be eligible to participate in the Department's pilot telework program, which offers eligible employees the opportunity to work remotely for up to two (2) days per week, as approved by management.
Requirements (Education/Experience/Licenses)
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Five (5) years of professional experience in programming, systems programming or computer analysis.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR Possession of a master's degree in an information technology field.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
