Full job description

Our client is seeking a Mainframe CICS System Administrator to join their team. As a Mainframe CICS System Administrator, you will be part of the operations and platform support function, helping ensure reliable transaction processing across critical client environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the drive to continuously improve system stability and performance.

Contract on W2

What's the Job?

  • Install, upgrade, and maintain CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS) environments to support ongoing business operations.

  • Apply patches (PTFs), manage version upgrades, and perform regression validation to reduce risk during changes.

  • Configure and maintain CICS regions (production, test, DR), ensuring each environment is ready for its intended workload.

  • Maintain startup parameters and system initialization tables (DFHSIT) to support consistent system initialization and behavior.

  • Monitor transaction performance and system health using tools such as OMEGAMON / MainView / TMON, then analyze and tune for improved response times, CPU utilization, and storage usage.

What's Needed?

  • Hands-on experience administering CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS), including installation, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Ability to apply patches (PTFs), manage version upgrades, and execute regression validation with accuracy and discipline.

  • Experience configuring and supporting CICS regions across production, test, and DR environments.

  • Strong monitoring and troubleshooting skills using tools such as OMEGAMON / MainView / TMON, with a focus on transaction response times and system health.

  • Proven capability to analyze performance bottlenecks and perform tuning to improve overall system efficiency.
