By joining our Developmental Branch as a Engineer In Training II in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful transportation projects while helping shape the future of engineering across Kentucky. You'll gain hands-on roadway design experience, develop expertise in OpenRoads Designer (ORD), contribute to statewide Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) standards and engineering policy, evaluate emerging technologies, and collaborate with every Highway District.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Assist with roadway design and project development.

Support statewide CADD and ORD initiatives.

Develop engineering plans, models, and deliverables.

Assist with software testing and standards development.
-
Collaborate with engineers across Kentucky.
Skills and Expectations include but are not limited to the following:

Proficiency with ORD.

The KYTC highway design workflow.

Working with the KYTC Standard Drawings.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.http://kyboels.ky.gov/. (http://kyboels.ky.gov/. ) Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this title will perform duties in an office and/or field setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
