Summary
You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICAN Two positions located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Region, Design and Contract Admin Group, located in PROVO,UTAH OR Facility O&M Group located in ALBUQUERQUE, NM.
Duties
At the full performance level the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Perform difficult but precedented technical engineering evaluation and analysis assignments or analyze segments of broader issues or problems. Analyze the issues and project objectives and make adjustments to standard procedures or operations based on situations and conditions encountered in the field or during the study. Gather data for evaluation from a variety of sources, including databases, field notes, maps, land classification resources, environmental analyses, geotechnical reports, design charrettes, laboratory reports, and reports. Conduct design surveys and/or field site visits to collect samples and data. Prepare original drawings and preliminary layouts, as well as update and revision to drawings, including final as-built drawings. Review drawings, the basis for the design, and the design analysis for conformance with established engineering standards and criteria and the project requirements. Install tests, calibrate, troubleshoot, operate, and maintain instrumentation and equipment associated with engineering and architecture projects and activities, including scientific data collection. Conduct inspections and assessments that involve a wide variety of test and inspectiontechniques. Identify and make recommendations for correcting deficiencies. Draft technical documentation for assigned technical engineering work assignments and review documentation of lower graded technicians. Serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR)/Grants Officer's Technical Representative (GOTR)/Awarding Official Technical Representative (AOTR) and/or assist the COR/GOTR/AOTR in working with the Contracting Officer/Grants Officer/ A warding Official to implement and administer a variety of assigned contracts. Provide administrative support in connection with regulatory program oversight. Use databases to maintain engineering data and records. Participate in the development, maintenance, and/or operation of engineering data collection andstorage systems. Salary Range Information (Per Annum): GS-07: 51,007 - 66,311 GS-08: 56,488 - 73,432 GS-09: 62,392 - 81,114 Provo, UT: GS-07: 50,460 - 65,599 GS-08: 55,882 - 72,644 GS-09: 61,722 - 80,243 Pay will vary based on grade level and/or duty location for which you're selected. Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/14/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify at the GS-07, your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-06 level: 1) utilizing computer aided drafting (CAD) software, 2) experience in surveying and 3) construction cost estimating of materials for projects; OR Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician such as, engineering, construction, industrial technology; OR A combination of specialized experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. To qualify at the GS-08, your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing: 1) creating packages and drawing sets utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) software with accuracy and attention to detail; 2) surveying and construction cost estimating of materials and 3) inspecting contractors work. To qualify at the GS-09, your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-08level in federal service: 1) creating packages and drawing sets utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) software with accuracy and attention to detail; 2) surveying and construction cost estimating of materials, 3) conducting field inspections to ensure contractor work meets requirements and standards and documenting findings; and 4) Preparing change orders, modifications, or technical review of claims, and preparing cost estimates; OR Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician such as, engineering, construction, industrial technology; OR A combination of specialized experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education

Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable.
