Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to support analytical testing and characterization of viral vectors within a dynamic, high-throughput laboratory environment. This individual will play a key role in executing molecular biology assays that support viral vector development and characterization programs.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on molecular biologist with strong experience in DNA/RNA extraction, ddPCR, qPCR, and molecular assay execution. Candidates with experience supporting lentiviral vector platforms and high-volume sample processing environments are especially encouraged to apply.
This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies supporting cell and gene therapy programs while collaborating with cross-functional scientific teams.
Responsibilities Perform DNA and RNA extraction, purification, and quantification from a variety of sample types. Execute and analyze molecular assays including: Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) RT-ddPCR Quantitative PCR (qPCR) Viral titer assays Vector Copy Number (VCN) assays Viral genomic RNA (vgRNA) analysis p24 quantification assays Support viral vector characterization and analytical testing activities. Process large sample volumes in a high-throughput laboratory setting. Utilize laboratory automation tools including liquid handling systems when applicable. Troubleshoot assay performance issues and optimize experimental workflows. Interpret molecular data and generate accurate, high-quality documentation of results. Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams to support project goals and timelines. Maintain laboratory records and documentation in compliance with established procedures and quality standards. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within laboratory operations.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biological Sciences, or related field with 2+ years of industry experience; OR Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with applicable laboratory experience. Hands-on experience performing: DNA/RNA extraction and quantification ddPCR qPCR Molecular biology assays in a laboratory setting Experience supporting high-throughput sample processing environments. Strong troubleshooting and scientific problem-solving abilities. Experience working with lentiviral vector platforms. Background supporting cell and gene therapy programs. Experience with: Viral titer assays Vector Copy Number (VCN) assays Viral genomic RNA (vgRNA) analysis p24 assays Familiarity with laboratory automation and liquid handling platforms. Working knowledge of sequence analysis software such as: Benchling SnapGene Geneious Exposure to primer design tools (Primer3 or similar) and PCR optimization strategies.
