The P/T Technical Assistant/ Film Tech maintains the Film Department equipment collection and oversees the day-to-day operations of the department Mac lab.

Duties include

  • Tracking and updating equipment inventory via an electronic lending system on an ongoing basis.

  • Logging and updating student information; tracking equipment returns.

  • Performing routine maintenance, fixing or recommending replacement of broken equipment.

  • Setting up and breaking down equipment for classroom lesson plans.

  • Troubleshooting student and faculty issues with camera, light, and sound equipment from pre-production through post-production.

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations in the department Mac computer lab.

  • Supporting and assisting students working on film projects with issues ranging from editing video to exporting across a variety of software programs.

  • Reporting any issues with computers, printers, and projectors to IT/Media departments.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervising faculty member.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a high school or equivalency diploma and one year of experience in area of specialty. The satisfactory completion of 30 credits in the area of specialty at a recognized college or university may be substituted for the experience. Demonstrated facility with a range of film equipment and Mac computer applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve; experience with inventory management and spreadsheets; experience in an educational setting.

Additional Information:

WORK SCHEDULE: The Film Tech will work a set schedule of approximately 20 hours per week during regular business hours from September to May.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $17.50/hour. No benefits.
