Full job description

Description We are looking for a Communication Specialist to support internal messaging initiatives for a long-term contract opportunity based in Brentwood, Tennessee. This position will help shape clear, effective communication strategies that guide employees and leaders through organizational updates, integration efforts, and business changes. The ideal candidate brings strong writing and planning skills, along with experience creating communications for varied audiences in a dynamic corporate environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and carry out internal communication strategies that align with business priorities, organizational initiatives, and change-related programs.

  • Work closely with communications and change leadership to deliver timely updates that explain upcoming changes, major milestones, and employee impact.

  • Manage communication schedules, key deliverables, and project execution across several concurrent initiatives while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

  • Write and refine messaging for complex or sensitive topics, turning detailed business information into clear and approachable content.

  • Produce communication materials tailored to executives, senior leaders, people managers, and employees across geographically distributed teams.

  • Collaborate with business leaders and subject matter experts to gather insights, shape messaging, review drafts, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Maintain editorial calendars, content roadmaps, and communication plans to support ongoing and project-based messaging needs.

  • Evaluate communication needs and recommend the right audience, channel, timing, and format for each message.

  • Support recurring internal communications such as newsletters, talking points, presentation content, intranet updates, and video scripts from planning through distribution. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in communications, with a background in internal or organizational messaging.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting change management initiatives and merger or acquisition-related communications.

  • Strong ability to develop effective content for multiple audiences, including executive leadership and broad employee groups.

  • Proven organizational skills with experience managing timelines, deliverables, and multiple priorities at once.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills with the ability to simplify complex information.

  • Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts to drive communication outcomes. Innovation starts with people.®
