The South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! Responsibilities of the Director of Residential Life: INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY Supervise and coordinate Residential Lile department functions. This position will require minimal supervision and will report directly to the Agency Head. The employee will have independence and crisscrossing in handling staff and issues related to student residents. Strong case management skills, ability to supervise and train residential life staff who are responsible for the day-to-day supervision of students. The individual will be required to cover on campus residence hall duties if staffing warrants. Some weekends are required.• Supervise and coordinate tasks for the residential life staff, residential life buildings (11 residence halls), including full and part-time employees. This includes student, parent and staff concerns. Handle discipline related to residential life. Coordinate with other departments related to student concerns. Coordinate the staffing for all residence halls and department positions. Supervise the Recreation Specialist and activity staff. Coordinate supplies, equipment, and space usage for the Residential Life department.

  • Participate in Department Head Meetings.

  • Serve on several agency committees as needed, including but not limited to communications, strategic planning, Howe-lloween, AG Fest, graduation, welcome weekend.

  • Provide mentorship and leadership for students and staff.

  • Monitor department performance and provide corrective feedback and instruction as needed.

  • Approve working time and leave in SCEIS.

  • Provide guidance, supervision, structure, and discipline for students as needed.

  • Plan and implement welcome weekend (student move-in) and student move out on a yearly basis.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.

Additional requirements:• Must have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • The individual will be required to cover on campus residence halls if staffing is not available.
  • Duties will regularly exceed 37.5 hours weekly.
  • The employee will be on call nightly when students are in residence.
  • Campus residency is required and/or residency within 10 miles.
