Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student in Richmond, IL . This is a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact by facilitating communication and helping a student succeed in the classroom environment.

Position Details

• Location: Richmond, IL

• Start Date: October 5, 2026

• Contract Length: 36 Weeks

• Schedule: 35 Hours per Week

• Hours: 7:35 AM – 2:20 PM

• Setting: Middle School

• Assignment: 1:1 Student Support

• Classroom Environment: General Education

• Pay Rate: Up to $50.00/hour

About the Role

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff within the educational setting. Using American Sign Language (ASL), the interpreter ensures access to classroom instruction, activities, and educational discussions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or related field preferred

• State Board of Education Interpreter Certification (if applicable)

• EIPA Certification (as required)

• RID Certification (as required)

• Current CPR certification (if applicable)

• Ability to meet all federal, state, and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Often, American Sign Language (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities and learning discussions.

Minimum Requirements:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language

• Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field, preferred

• State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)

• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
