Security Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Security Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, testing, commissioning, and certification of security and low-voltage systems across a variety of projects ranging from small commercial installations to large, complex deployments. You will also provide end-user training and ensure customers receive exceptional service throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, program, troubleshoot, and commission security, access control, video surveillance, fire alarm, and other low-voltage systems.

  • Perform system start-up, testing, inspection, and certification to ensure proper operation and compliance with project specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Train customers and end users on system functionality and operation.

  • Collaborate with project teams to complete installations safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

  • Maintain a high level of customer service while working onsite with clients.

  • Travel locally to customer locations, with occasional overnight travel as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, security systems, fire alarm systems, or low-voltage installations.

  • Strong troubleshooting and programming experience with security-related systems.

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the use of hand and power tools.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, fire alarm, or integrated building systems.

  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, technical drawings, and basic electrical calculations.

  • Proven ability to succeed in customer-facing environments and deliver high-quality service.

Experience Level: Intermediate Technician / Security Specialist.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
