Responsibilities

Functions as a Junior Team Member assisting Lab Supervisor and the team in the day-to-day operations of High-Complexity Testing Laboratories and is committed to utilizing the most current technologies available. Performs laboratory tests in the Flow Cytometry or Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in biological science from the accredited program in the US or properly evaluated equivalent program outside US, successful completion of a formal technologist training program, OR

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in biological science with appropriate credits in chemistry, mathematics and biology (for molecular lab molecular biology/genetics credits required; for flow cytometry immunology/hematology credits required) plus at least six months working or volunteering experience in the laboratory services.

  • Applicants must demonstrate skills as described in the promotion path guidelines and ability to perform clinical laboratory procedures as described in Standard Operating Manual for Molecular Diagnostics or Flow Cytometry Laboratory Procedures.

PREFERRED

  • Computer experience: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.

  • a. Preferred for Flow Cytometry Laboratory:

  • Knowledge of hematology/ immunology;

  • Experience with handling blood and bone marrow specimens;

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety techniques;

  • Basic knowledge of flow cytometry;

b. Preferred for Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory:

  • Nucleic acids handling: DNA, genomic DNA, RNA extraction, spectrophotometer / nanodrop, PCR / real-time PCR;

  • Molecular Laboratory Techniques: template contamination prevention workflow

  • Knowledge of genetics / molecular biology

Work Hours: 8.30 AM-5 PM Weekend Requirements: No
