Job Description

  • Perform certified emissions and engine testing to regulatory standards

  • Set up and troubleshoot instrumentation and test equipment

  • Collect, analyze, and report engine performance and emissions data

  • Support production line audits and investigate testing failures

  • Maintain accurate documentation of test procedures and results

  • Recommend design modifications to improve engine performance and emissions compliance

  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair lab equipment as needed

  • Fabricate experimental components and test fixtures

  • Coordinate testing schedules and prioritize multiple projects

  • Direct and mentor technicians within assigned area

  • Support engineering teams through development testing and product validation

  • Participate in design reviews and provide testing feedback

  • Ensure smooth communication between lab, analysts, engineering, and production teams

  • Manage inventory and testing supplies

  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant testing environments

Skills and Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field OR equivalent engine testing experience

  • 15+ years of engine testing/engine-related experience

  • Strong internal combustion engine knowledge and application experience

  • Experience with EPA, ARB, and EU emissions certification testing

  • Ability to set up instrumentation including thermocouples and pressure transducers

  • Advanced electromechanical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience analyzing and reporting test data using Microsoft Office

  • Hands-on experience with dyno/certification lab equipment

  • Ability to perform equipment calibration, maintenance, and testing support

  • Experience fabricating components using machine shop equipment (lathe, drill press, welding equipment)

  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering documentation

  • Leadership experience directing technicians or managing a testing area

  • Strong technical communication skills with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams • Prior experience supporting production line audits and emissions failure investigations

  • Experience working directly with regulatory agencies (EPA, ARB, EU)

  • Previous leadership or team-building training/classes

  • Experience working with engine development and design teams

  • Cross-functional expertise across multiple testing areas

  • Experience working with external suppliers and testing equipment vendors
