Smithbucklin, a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, with primary offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., is looking for a Member Engagement Associateto join ourNursing Association Networkteam in our Chicago office.

We build strong governance practices, develop strategic plans and operational excellence targets, improve on financial practices, and ultimately grow the client organizations we serve. The Member Engagement Associate plays an integral role in supporting and guiding the nonprofit volunteers, members, and committees from our client organizations. This role will have a heavy focus on membership recruitment and retention for one of our client organizations.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain first-rate customer service as the front-line contact to association clients, volunteers and members

  • Maintain the membership database and create/run various reports

  • Perform membership outreach, focusing on recruitment and retention events

  • Assist with on-site registration at client events as needed

  • Support the processing of membership dues and other related invoices

  • Update the website, as needed, with new information on membership programs, benefits, etc.

  • Draft a variety of membership communications, which may include emails, phone calls and email messages, etc.

  • Identify creative ways to communicate association benefits to prospective members and be knowledgeable about all client programs and services

  • Work with the Association Executive and Board of Directors to determine new ways to effectively grow membership

  • Provide analysis and consultation on existing membership materials and resources

  • Have a demonstrated history of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and the ability to prioritize a heavy workload

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Outgoing and enjoy interacting with diverse audiences

  • Exhibit a strong customer service orientation, including the demonstrated ability to tailor communication to various audiences

  • Can travel up to 5%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution

  • 0-1 year of relevant professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a nonprofit or agency environment is preferred

  • Database management experience

  • Business Development experience or interest

  • Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite

  • (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Smithbucklin is a hybrid work environment with in-office days established as Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines. Smithbucklin considers several factors when determining compensation, including a candidate's recent coursework, training, experience, and certifications, among other considerations. The expected pay for this role is $50,000.
