Shifts Available: Days

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 6:00am to 6:00pm

Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist, internally referred to as our RRT. The RRT can be referred to as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP II) but someone who carries out respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by the medical and cardiopulmonary directors, based on physician orders. They focus on assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care while considering the specific needs of patients based on age and population; in the absence of a supervisor, they may be designated as the Lead RCP, overseeing the department during their shift.

Responsibilities

  • Will provide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily

  • Conduct tests like pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange in patients

  • Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently

  • May be part of a rapid response team in emergencies, which you will provide airway management, perform intubations, and resuscitate patients in critical situations

  • Assess patients' respiratory status, monitor their progress, and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed

  • Ensure that all respiratory equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to prevent infections and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

  1. Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.

  2. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

  3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.

  4. Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.

  5. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.

  6. Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is preferred.

  7. Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

  8. Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred.
