THIS IS A SCDPPPS INTERNAL POSTING ONLY

*Responsible for supervising the completion of parole and pardon investigations in the Upstate area. *Office location TBD.

Under general supervision, provides first-line supervision to a team of Parole/Pardon Investigators; provides direction, guidance and coaching to staff. Assists with the selection of section personnel through recruitment, interviewing of prospective Parole/Pardon Investigators, and promotional opportunities when appropriate. Participates in training new Parole/Pardon Investigators. Submits reports to the Director of Investigations and Examinations. Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating operating procedures within the section to include the identification and development of strategies for dealing with problems/issues. Participates in special law enforcement deployments as ordered by the Department during times of emergency or disasters.

A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work. An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.

A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling or other social/behavioral science or a bachelor’s degree which includes at least 15 credit hours in the aforementioned disciplines and three (3) years of experience in the probation and parole field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
