Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the fiber optics industry. Must have five (5) years of experience in all of the following: • Working in Wavelength Selective Switches (WSS) systems assembly and testing; • Utilizing statistical control systems for optical system production; • Applying WSS manufacturing and calibration methods; • Analyzing optical system for performance parameters including alignment and beam propagation rules; • Utilizing optical test equipment including OSA (Optical Spectrum Analyzers), ASE (Amplified Spontaneous Emission) light sources, Tunable Laser Systems (TLS), and polarization controllers; • Applying Lean manufacturing, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Testability (DFT) methodologies; • Overseeing technology transfer to Contract Manufacturers (CM); and • Writing scripts in Python and SQL for statistical data analysis. Job Description

Process Engineer, Molex LLC, Bridgewater, NJ:

Job Description:

Monitor, evaluate, and improve optical performance and manufacturability of Wavelength Selective Switches (WSS) products throughout their life cycle. Collaborate with the WSS Design team to drive root-cause investigations of product performance issues and support improving WSS assembly and calibration processes. Improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs in the NPI and scale-up phases. Develop statistical process control tools to monitor performance of WSS and other products in their manufacturing phases and lead corrective action implementations for high yield manufacturing. Work with Product Line Managers (PLM) to review customers’ WSS product requirements and design test plans to evaluate the feasibility of the requested product specifications. Develop and optimize optical test processes and prepare customer-facing Optical Design Verification Test (ODVT) reports. Work with WSS designers, WSS assembly, and calibration process developers to address product performance issues in the development phase. Lead new product transfers in the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase and support production line moves between factories in the manufacturing phase. $150,093.00 per year.
