The City of San Fernando is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, operational, and running smoothly. From repairing doors and walls to troubleshooting plumbing and electrical issues, you'll be the go-to expert helping maintain essential community facilities.

What You'll Be Doing

Every day brings something different. You'll be responsible for:

✅ Performing general building maintenance and repairs

✅ Troubleshooting plumbing, electrical, and mechanical issues

✅ Repairing walls, ceilings, doors, drywall, and facility structures

✅ Painting, carpentry, and facility improvement projects

✅ Installing and maintaining building equipment

✅ Completing preventive maintenance and assigned work orders

✅ Identifying repair needs before they become major problems

✅ Responding to urgent maintenance requests and facility emergencies

✅ Maintaining accurate maintenance records and daily logs

✅ Supporting multiple facilities as operational needs arise

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, and enjoys working in a fast-paced maintenance environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Facilities Maintenance

• Building Maintenance

• Plumbing

• Electrical Repairs

• Carpentry

• Painting & Drywall

• Mechanical Troubleshooting

• Preventive Maintenance

• HVAC Experience (a plus)

• Industrial or Commercial Maintenance (a plus)

You Should Also Have:

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Ability to safely use hand and power tools

• Basic math and computer skills

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance

• Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies when needed

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on role requiring:

• Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing

• Use of maintenance tools and equipment

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Working both indoors and outdoors

Schedule

🕕 First Shift 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

• Must be available for overtime as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Fernando, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
