Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for three Entry Physical Security Analysts to join our Physical Security team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does an Entry Physical Security Analyst do for us?

With some oversight, the Entry Physical Security Analyst of Security Operations is responsible for assisting with designing, consulting, implementing, and executing Idaho Powers comprehensive company-wide Physical Security operations program. This role will focus on the operational development, execution, and optimization of Idaho Power’s 24x7 security operations center (SOC) and includes:

  • Developing, documenting, executing, and maintaining SOC best practices

  • Executing the access provisioning program; Responding to intrusion detection events

  • Managing incidents from detection through resolution and documentation

  • Supporting and executing enterprise compliance monitoring

  • Delivering training to operators to facilitate understanding of SOC operations, controls, and processes

  • Utilizing knowledge of security technology platforms and infrastructure to improve SOC operations

When do our Entry Physical Security Analyst work?

Our 24x7 SOC operates a 12-hour day shift from 7AM to 7PM and a night shift from 7PM to 7AM. Analysts are hired for either day shift or night shift. Idaho Power is looking for Analysts to staff:

  • 3 full-time night shift positions

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Corporate security operations

  • Asset protection as demonstrated by ASIS International (ASIS)

  • Incident response best practices

  • Video management systems

  • Access control

  • Visitor management

  • Key control

  • Basic technical industry knowledge

  • Law enforcement agencies in the IPC service area

  • Microsoft Office software, and PC applications

Preferred:

  • Utility structure

  • Critical infrastructure security

  • Basic NERC and FERC compliance awareness

  • Security alarm monitoring concepts

  • Physical access provisioning practices

  • Working knowledge of security technology platforms (Unified Security and OSINT platforms) used to support enterprise physical security operations.

Skills in:

  • Supporting physical security operations and technology programs

  • Following established procedures, priorities, and service delivery expectations

  • Monitoring security systems, assessing alarms and events, documenting activity, and escalating concerns in accordance with standard operating procedures

  • Applying basic qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify security trends, root causes, contributing factors, and potential control gaps

  • Developing clear reports, records, work notes, and user-facing communications

  • Building effective working relationships with team members, internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and law enforcement partners

  • Learning and adapting to physical security technology platforms, business applications, and operational routines

  • Communicating security information clearly and professionally to employees, contractors, vendors, and security partners

  • Developing leadership skills

Ability to:

  • Apply sound business practices and economic principles to ensure efficient use of resources and improve physical security processes

  • Effectively communicate and present threat information, both verbally and in writing, to various audiences, both internal and external

  • Encourage active participation of stakeholders (e.g., employees, management, vendors, contractors) in formulating and implementing security processes

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 1 year of demonstrated corporate security operations and/or technology experience

Preferred:

  • 3 or more years of demonstrated professional corporate security operations experience

  • Security or emergency center operations experience

  • Experience working with physical security technology platforms

  • Basic understanding of security technology infrastructure and architecture

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Preferred:

  • Recognized SOC/GSOC operator training

  • Emergency communications/dispatch training

  • Incident response training, or equivalent corporate security operations certification

  • PSP, CPP

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office

equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working near

other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The ability to respond calmly to and control

situations where violent behavior may occur is also required. The above is a summary of the primary essential

functions of the position. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete scheduled compliance training and submit to periodic background investigation as mandated by NERC. Must be part of an ongoing revolving duty schedule involving being on-call 24 hours a day/7 days a week for one to two weeks straight. Must be able to assist with external security risk assessments; respond to intrusion detection incidents; and assist with physical security testing/installations, etc. in potentially adverse or uncomfortable weather conditions

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Works independently, under minimal supervision with general to moderate scope. Prepares and presents reports as needed. Works within a budget.

These roles will be on a shift schedule to meet the following shift needs:

  • 3 Night shifts: 7:00pm – 7:00am, on a weekly rotating schedule of weekdays and weekends worked
