DSHS DDA – Direct Support Professional/Attendant Counselor 2 Want to put your compassion to work? Children’s State-Operated Living Alternatives (SOLA) within the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) has multiple openings for Attendant Counselor 2 positions in Spokane Valley, WA.

As an Attendant Counselor 2, you’ll provide direct support, personal care, supervision, and teaching to people with developmental disabilities in their homes. Each client has unique support needs, and your work may include teaching daily living skills, providing personal care, completing household tasks, supporting community participation and relationship building, assisting with medication administration, and providing positive behavior supports.

Please note – we have multiple positions available on Day and Swing shifts. There is no telework available as duties performed are on-site.• Day Shift: 7:15 AM – 3:15 PM

  • Swing Shift: 3:15 PM – 11:15 PM

Evening and night shifts may include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

Some of what you'll do:• Coach, teach, and mentor individuals with intellectual disabilities

  • Teach and assist with daily living skills, personal care, and household tasks
  • Provide positive behavior supports based on individual needs
  • Implement Individual Support Plan programs, services, and activities
  • Accompany or transport clients to appointments and community activities
  • Build positive relationships and support community integration
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment
  • Collect, document, and report information related to client needs and home management
  • Use electronic data systems to maintain client records and required documentation

Who should apply? We are searching for professionals with:• High school graduation or GED and one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities. OR

  • High school graduation or GED and one year of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1 or equivalent or higher-level state classification.

Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities:• Willingness to work with children, youth, and adults with disabilities, including people who may have mental health conditions

  • Ability to work effectively with people who have complex support and service needs
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow policies, procedures, and individual support plans
  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible work habits
  • Positive, friendly, and respectful approach when working with clients, families, coworkers, and the public
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills through training and on-the-job experience
