Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Engine Workshop Technician to join our Distribution business in (Houston, TX).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs

  • Performs engine overhauls unassisted

  • Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components

  • Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

  • Perform engine disassembly,inspection,repair,assembly,andtestinginaccordancewithCumminsserviceproceduresandqualitystandards.

  • UtilizeQuickServe,servicedocumentation,anddiagnostictoolstotroubleshootandvalidaterepairs.

  • Verifycompletedrepairsthroughoperationaltestingandinspectionprocedures.

  • Accuratelydocumentrepairfindings,partsrequirements,laboroperations,andservicerecommendations.

  • Supportcontinuousimprovementinitiativesfocusedonsafety,quality,turnaroundtime,andproductivity.

  • Maintaincleanlinessandorganizationofworkareas,tooling,andshopequipmentinaccordancewith5Sprinciples.

  • AssistintrainingandmentoringLevel1techniciansandapprenticesbyprovidingtechnicalguidanceandsupport.

  • Identifyandcommunicateadditionalrepairopportunities,warrantyconcerns,andpotentialproductissuestoleadership.

  • Adheretoallcompanysafetypolicies,environmentalrequirements,andlockout/tagoutprocedures.

  • Supportinventorycontroleffortsbyproperlymanagingparts,cores,andreusablecomponentsduringrepairactivities.

  • Participateinrootcauseanalysisactivitiestoimproverepairqualityandreducerepeatfailures.

  • Supportovertime,weekendwork,andemergencycustomerrequirementsasbusinessneedsdictate.

  • Operateoverheadcranes,liftingdevices,forklifts,andspecializedequipmentinasafeandcompliantmanner.

  • Completerequiredtechnicaltrainingandmaintaincertificationsnecessaryforassignedwork.

  • Performotherdutiesandspecialassignmentsasdirectedbyworkshopleadership.

  • ServeasatechnicalresourceforLevel1techniciansonstandardenginerebuildandrepairprocedures.

  • Leadportionsofcomplexrepairactivitiesundertheguidanceofseniortechniciansorworkshopleadership.

  • Reviewrepairdocumentationforcompletenessandaccuracypriortojobclosure.

  • Assistsupervisorsinidentifyingworkflowimprovementsthatincreaselaborefficiencyandreducerework.

  • Support quality auditsandcontributetoachievingshopproductivityandcustomersatisfactiongoals.

  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

  • A current valid license is required for this role

  • Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience

  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
