Chicago Ave IRTS - Paid Mental Health Internship

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a student in a behavioral health degree program to join our team at the Chicago Ave Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program. Our IRTS facilities integrate mental health, medical, and substance use care in a 23-hour, supervised setting. A step below hospitalization in our community-based system of care, these services help adults who need a high level of treatment and assistance in a structured setting.

Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday during regular business hours

Location(s): 3633 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, 55407

Hiring Range: $20.00 per hour

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop foundational skills in providing trauma-informed, person-centered support to individuals experiencing acute mental health symptoms

  • Increase clinical knowledge through observation and practice

  • Learn about interdisciplinary collaboration by working with a diverse team of professionals

Main Job Duties:

  • Observe and assist with professional and counselor tasks suchs as assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.

  • Connect clients with community resources

  • Participate in team meetings, including weekly Clinical Review

  • Ensure that all assigned daily tasks are completed in a timely manner.

  • Attendance according to schedule as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Currently attending or recently graduated from a bachelor’s program in social work, psychology, counselling, or addiction studies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of foundational coursework in abnormal psychology, counseling skills, human behavior, social work practice, crisis intervention, or a related subject.

  • Previous volunteer work, or practicum experience in human services or behavioral health is preferred but not required.

  • Accrue up to 48 hours of Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) in accordance with state and local requirements
