Job Description
The Role (What to Expect): The Commissioning System Owner is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, tracking, and reporting all commissioning activities for a specific area or project scope within a semiconductor fabrication facility. The system owner will ensure that all discipline assets, particularly gas, chemical, UPW, and process tool support systems are officially handed over for use in the fab, and that the equipment meets all code, specification, purity, safety, and project requirements. Responsibilities (What You’ll Do):

Track commissioning readiness and plan support for assets going through the construction phase; attend and support project meetings.

Lead and coordinate all commissioning phases including pre-functional testing, functional performance testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST), ensuring alignment with owner requirements, fab cleanliness protocols, and project milestones.

Conduct rigorous field walks, installation reviews, and quality inspections to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, high-purity standards, and commissioning protocols.

Lead effective site meetings with clients, consultants, trades, tool vendors, and internal teams, presenting commissioning status, risk, and recovery plans with clarity and confidence.

Deep mechanical / process expertise in the commissioning of: – Specialty and bulk gas systems (including VMB/VMP, gas cabinets, abatement, and distribution) – Chemical delivery and distribution systems (bulk chemicals, day tanks, valve manifold boxes, and point-of-use) – Ultra Pure Water (UPW) generation, storage, and distribution systems – Process cooling water, exhaust, and related mechanical utilities supporting tool install

Drive tools integration commissioning activities, coordinating mechanical hook-ups, start-up support, and interface verification between facility systems and process tools.

In-depth knowledge of MEP construction methods, high-purity piping (orbital welding, tube specs, passivation), and commissioning specifications for cleanroom and sub-fab environments.

Knowledge & experience with applicable mechanical testing, flushing, purity verification, pressure testing, passivation, balancing, and start-up procedures for mission-critical semiconductor infrastructure.

Diagnosing and resolving issues during start-up and providing ongoing system support, with strong emphasis on contamination control and safety (including toxic/flammable gas and chemical handling).

Theoretical and practical knowledge in commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and operation of mechanical/process systems and related controls in a semiconductor fab.
Skills and Requirements
Requirements (What You’ll Bring):

5–12 years of Mechanical / Process Commissioning experience (semiconductor fab, cleanroom, or advanced technology facility experience strongly preferred).

Knowledge & experience with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines and SEMI standards preferred.

Direct experience commissioning gas, chemicals, UPW, or process-utility systems in semiconductors, cleanrooms, or controlled environments.

Deep knowledge of construction quality checks, high-purity drawings/specifications, codes, and contamination-control requirements.

Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and fab safety standards (including gas detection, chemical handling, and UPW quality metrics).

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; proven ability to interface with tool vendors and cross-functional fab teams.

Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced cleanroom/sub-fab environment.

Proficient in computer and software skills (commissioning management platforms, completions systems, Microsoft Office, etc.).
