SUNY Schenectady County Community College seeks a full-time Coordinator of Student Financial Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Financial Services, the Coordinator is responsible for coordination of student billing, collection of accounts receivable, collection of student Certificates of Residence, county chargeback billing, accurate student account maintenance, financial aid packaging, 1098T issuance, and cash handling. This is a 12-month unrepresented appointment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard and deposit all tuition, fees and other monies collected throughout the College.

Act as a liaison with banking institutions in completing daily deposits, stop payments, and bank reconciliations.

Assist students through the financial aid application and bill payment process

Communicate effectively to students regarding their Financial Aid status, and collect forms as necessary.

Perform actions necessary for annual 1098T reporting to students and the Internal Revenue Service.

Coordinate county chargeback billing, including preparation and submission of required SUNY reports. Develop and maintain procedures related to areas of responsibility, assist with internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines

Coordinate Third Party Sponsor and Cross Registration Billing, such as Access Vocational Rehabilitation, and Veteran Affairs.

Coordinate student billing and account activity to ensure the accuracy of student charges, payments, collections, and account reconciliation. Communicate with students regarding billing, payment obligations, and Certificate of Residency requirements.

Work closely with students, parents and staff to ensure the student's financial obligation is met through use of financial aid or payment plan options.

Responsible for administration of the College's online payment platform.

May require hours outside of the normal working day.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree.

  • One (1) year of related employment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to organize, implement and administer record keeping systems and procedures.

  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related fieldKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and an understanding of Title IV regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Special Information:

  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official college transcripts and/or certifications.

Salary: $50,000
