Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Field Engineer to support the construction, commissioning, and quality oversight of mission-critical data center infrastructure projects. This individual will serve as a technical field resource supporting the client's Data Center Services (DCS) Project Managers and Engineering teams throughout all phases of installation, testing, energization, and turnover.

The Electrical Field Engineer will work closely with contractors, commissioning teams, equipment vendors, utility providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure electrical systems are installed, tested, documented, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, and operational expectations. This role will spend the majority of its time on-site performing field inspections, supporting commissioning activities, resolving technical issues, and driving quality execution across critical electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities Provide field oversight of electrical construction, installation quality, and commissioning readiness activities. Participate in commissioning meetings and support coordination between project teams, contractors, vendors, and engineers. Review electrical submittals, RFIs, change orders, temporary services plans, and technical documentation for compliance and constructability. Perform QA/QC inspections, field audits, punch walkdowns, and issue tracking utilizing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Support commissioning and startup activities through observation, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and review of testing documentation. Review electrical studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, NETA, and commissioning reports. Monitor installation quality and adherence to established electrical standards for medium-voltage and low-voltage systems. Support equipment energization planning, testing procedures, and operational readiness activities. Coordinate with utility providers, equipment manufacturers, and contractors to resolve technical and construction-related issues. Review as-built documentation, redlines, panel schedules, and turnover documentation for accuracy and completeness. Serve as a technical resource for electrical equipment installation, operation, and integrated system functionality. The position is responsible for ensuring electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and documented in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, operational expectations, and safety requirements. This role works closely with construction teams, commissioning agents, engineers, vendors, utility providers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Participate in commissioning activities, troubleshooting, system validation, and issue resolution. Conduct QA/QC inspections, punch list reviews, and field observations utilizing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Support medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical system installations, energization planning, and testing activities. Review short circuit, coordination, arc flash, NETA, and related electrical studies for compliance and constructability. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, utilities, engineering teams, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues. Monitor compliance with electrical quality standards, construction protection plans, torque standards, and operational requirements. Track as-built documentation, redlines, panel schedules, and turnover deliverables. Serve as the primary technical resource for electrical equipment installation, operation, and integrated system functionality.

Compensation: $50hr to $60/hr + OT

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience supporting electrical construction, commissioning, field engineering, or critical infrastructure projects. Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems. Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, specifications, and test reports. Experience performing field inspections, QA/QC reviews, contractor oversight, or commissioning support. Working knowledge of electrical equipment including switchgear, protective relays, substations, generators, power monitoring systems, and related controls. Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills. Ability to work full-time on active construction sites.
