Overview

We’re looking for a Creative Buyer. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance to our office in Detroit (Troy) or Chicago for a hybrid work schedule.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Purchase stock images—both stills and footage—and fonts

  • Licensing Digital, Footage and still imagery for Clients and Creatives with approved stock vendors content providers

  • Must have a solid understanding of clearance and licensing issues associated with image content (stills and footage).

  • Provide best practice recommendations for photo usage/licensing.

  • Work with legal and business teams to secure usage rights, clear/lead vetting for new sites that have not been legally approved, including seeking DAM rights, assess risk, and clear work for

distribution.

  • Negotiate/own contracts with stock houses including digital asset management aspects.

Partner with Legal and leadership to align on stock agreement that is in the best interest of the

agency/client needs.

  • Negotiate cost savings through reduced licensing fees with vendors and individual content providers while maintaining DAM license agreement.

  • Vet and set up new stock and image vendors by working with legal to confirm appropriate terms and conditions.

  • Maintain access to high-resolution stock downloads within the Creative

department.

  • Create and maintain a database of image content.

  • Research and maintain a database of content sources and resource contacts.

  • Review all artwork/meta data before it is released from the agency to ensure usage rights are known and documented.

  • Purchase font licenses.

  • Maintain and audit font server.

  • Offer creative solutions for savings whenever possible.

  • Partner with photography department on talent contracts, usage rights, tracking of

shoots, and asset storage.

  • Manage talent contracts, usage rights, tracking of shoots, and asset storage.

  • Correct the contracts, work with the reps to get better prices and put together a wish list for future DAM operations.

  • Hire/train buying staff, set up a DAM/with metadata asset tagging and tracking in

partnership with Asset management. This task will require prior experience

building and implementing a DAM.

SKILLSETS REQUIRED:

  • Proven Art Production, Rights Management, Vendor Management, Asset Management and

Production Technology acumen.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to manage one or more projects simultaneously.

  • Experience maintaining art resources such as stock houses, vendors, photographers and

representatives.

  • 3+ years of creative production experience at an advertising agency, in-house marketing

department, magazine/editorial/publishing group, or production company.

  • A high attention to detail, strong management skills, and the ability to manage multiple

organization-wide deadlines.

  • Must be extremely organized.

  • Working knowledge of current legal trends; experience with securing and managing copyrights.

  • Be open minded to opinions that might vary from yours.

Compensation Range: USD $66,120.00 - USD $91,350.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
