**Sped Teacher Assistant – North Charleston, SC **

Local Pay: $33.19/hour

Travel Pay:

Travel Rate (based on 40 hours): Hourly $15.09, Stipend (Lodging $560.00 + M&I $280.00) = $840.00

Total Comp :$1,443.60

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist special education teachers in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction for students with disabilities.

  • Provide individual and small-group instructional support under the direction of the classroom teacher.

  • Support students in inclusive, resource, self-contained, behavioral support, autism, and other special education settings based on assignment.

  • Assist students with academic tasks, communication, social skills, behavior management, mobility, and daily classroom routines as needed.

  • Reinforce instructional activities and interventions developed by the special education teacher and related service providers.

  • Observe student performance and assist with collecting and documenting data related to academic, behavioral, and functional progress.

  • Support classroom management by promoting positive behavior, maintaining a safe learning environment, and following established behavior intervention plans.

  • Assist students with transitions between classrooms, activities, transportation, meals, and other school settings as required.

  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and other school staff to support student learning and participation.

  • Maintain student confidentiality and comply with applicable special education policies, procedures, and school requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant college coursework preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children or students with disabilities is preferred.

  • Ability to follow instructional plans, IEP accommodations, behavior support plans, and teacher direction.

  • Possess effective communication, interpersonal, and classroom support skills.
