Cloud Data Security Architect (GCP Preferred)

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Rate: 60/hr W2 or 70/hr C2C

Overview

Our banking client is seeking a Cloud Data Security Architect to support a large-scale cloud modernization initiative. This role is focused on securing cloud-hosted data platforms and defining enterprise-level security controls to protect sensitive customer and business data.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data security, cloud security architecture, encryption, IAM, DLP, data scanning/classification, certificate and key management, logging, monitoring, and governance . While Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience is preferred, strong AWS or Azure security architects with significant data protection experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assess cloud environments from a data security and privacy perspective

  • Define and implement security controls for sensitive and regulated data

  • Design IAM and access-control strategies

  • Establish encryption, key management, and certificate management standards

  • Evaluate DLP, data classification, and data scanning solutions

  • Review logging, monitoring, and audit requirements

  • Conduct security architecture reviews and risk assessments

  • Identify security gaps and provide remediation recommendations

  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to improve cloud security posture

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Cloud Security, Data Security, or Security Architecture experience

  • Strong background in cloud security architecture (GCP preferred)

  • Deep understanding of:

  • Data Security & Data Protection

  • Encryption & Key Management

  • Certificate Management

  • IAM / Access Controls

  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

  • Data Classification & Scanning

  • Logging, Monitoring & Auditability

  • Security Risk Assessments

  • Experience protecting PII, PCI, or other regulated data

  • Ability to assess cloud architectures and define security requirements

Preferred Skills

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • BigQuery, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Datastore

  • AWS or Azure security architecture

  • Cloud KMS, Secret Manager

  • Terraform / Policy-as-Code

  • Financial Services experience

  • PCI, NIST, ISO27001, SOC2 environments
