Join our team at Bettendorf Community School District! We are seeking adetail-oriented and professional Accountantto manage the district's financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, regulatory compliance, and the effective use of resources to support student learning. This position is key to maintaining financial transparency and supporting administrative decision-making.
Start Date:ASAP
Rate of Pay:61,800/yr
Days:261(12- Month)
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
-
Previous accounting experience (school, government, or nonprofit preferred)
-
Strong knowledge of GAAP and school finance regulations
-
Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial reporting systems
-
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy
-
Commitment to ethical financial practices and confidentiality
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Maintain and monitor district financial accounts, including general ledger, revenues, expenditures, payroll, and grants
-
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for administration, the school board, and external agencies
-
Assist with budget development, forecasting, and ongoing budget monitoring
-
Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and internal accounts
-
Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements and district policies
-
Process invoices, purchase orders, and reimbursements while maintaining accurate records
-
Support annual audits and provide documentation to auditors
-
Track and report on grants, special programs, and restricted funds
-
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all financial matters
-
Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience with school district accounting systems (e.g., Vista, Infinite Visions, PowerSchool Finance, Skyward, or similar)
-
Knowledge of state-specific school finance laws and reporting requirements
-
CPA, CMA, or equivalent credential (a plus but not required)
