Job Description

Position Summary:

The Full-Stack Web Developer advances the Division of Learning Innovation's ability to reach and support learners by developing, integrating, and maintaining reliable, accessible, and scalable digital pathways. This position supports learner-facing websites, web applications, middleware, data connections, and application integrations across credit, noncredit, professional, continuing, Extension, and lifelong learning portfolios.

As part of the technology and digital experience infrastructure supporting Learning Innovation, this position develops full-stack web solutions that connect learner-facing experiences with Salesforce, content management systems, registration platforms, payment gateways, marketing automation tools, analytics and reporting environments, Canvas/LTI tools, and other applications. The role supports front-end and back-end development, API integrations, secure data flows, accessibility, performance, documentation, testing, and operational continuity.

The Division of Learning Innovation is a university-wide enterprise dedicated to expanding access, strengthening learner success, and advancing innovative models of teaching and learning. Through CSU Online, Professional and Continuing Education, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Learning Innovation for Extension Programs, and other cross-university partnerships, the division designs and supports learning experiences across the learner lifecycle, from open learning and noncredit credentials to degree pathways and workforce-aligned programs.

This Fort Collins, Colorado-based position offers potential for flexible work arrangements. Candidates interested in hybrid options must be available on-site in Fort Collins as needed, as well as for special projects, meetings, trainings, etc. Regular collaboration with campus and divisional partners is expected.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain full-stack web applications, learner-facing websites, middleware, and custom functionality that support the Division of Learning Innovation across credit, noncredit, professional, continuing, Extension, and lifelong learning portfolios.

  • Build and maintain integrations among web forms, content management systems, Salesforce CRM, registration platforms, payment gateways, marketing automation tools, analytics systems, reporting tools, Canvas/LTI tools, and other applications using secure APIs, middleware, and reliable data exchange practices.

  • Translate learner journey, portfolio, enrollment, marketing and growth, accessibility, and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions, user flows, interface improvements, application features, and implementation plans.

  • Create and improve front-end components and back-end services using modern web standards, accessible and responsive design practices, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, relevant frameworks, C#/.NET or comparable server-side technologies, database queries, and version-controlled code.

  • Configure, deploy, monitor, test, and troubleshoot development and production environments, integrations, release cycles, and code quality processes, including unit testing, code reviews, security updates, performance optimization, technical documentation, and maintainability practices.

  • Develop technical capabilities that support findability, search, SEO, event tracking, analytics, A/B testing, form submission, data capture, conversion measurement, personalization, and reliable handoffs into Salesforce and other learner-support systems.

  • Provide timely technical consultation and support to Learning Innovation teams by diagnosing issues, prioritizing enhancements, coordinating with Salesforce administrators, DoIT, vendors, and application owners, and resolving web and application problems with a service-centered approach.

  • Maintain accessibility, usability, privacy, security, and data integrity standards for learner-facing web and application work, escalating enterprise platform, compliance, institutional data, budget, or risk issues to appropriate divisional leaders and enterprise partners.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Hybrid, remote, or on-site work arrangement may be available based on role responsibilities, business needs, and CSU policies.

  • Occasional travel or flexible work hours may be required based on business needs, launch timelines, system releases, incident response, partnership meetings, and learner or community engagement activities.

Supervision:

  • This position does not directly supervise employees. It may coordinate student employees, vendors, contractors, or cross-functional project teams as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Five or more years of professional experience with front-end and back-end web development, application development, middleware, integrations, or related technical work.

  • Experience with modern HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks or libraries, responsive design practices, and server-side development such as C#/.NET, PHP, Python, Java, Node.js, or comparable technologies.

  • Experience with database design or querying, SQL, APIs, version control, software development lifecycle practices, code review, testing, and technical documentation.

  • Experience integrating websites or applications with CRM, content management, registration, payment, analytics, marketing automation, reporting, or enterprise application environments.

  • Experience applying web standards, usability principles, accessibility practices, quality assurance findings, or performance indicators to improve digital experiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise, organize technical requirements, coordinate stakeholders, and move development work from need identification to implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce, CRM integrations, Salesforce-connected forms, Salesforce APIs, marketing automation, learner/student systems, or customer relationship management workflows.

  • Experience with content management systems such as Sitefinity, WordPress, Drupal, dotCMS, or comparable platforms.

  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, middleware, data integrations, SaaS connections, .NET MVC, Entity Framework or other ORM tools, LAMP/WAMP stacks, cloud services, or comparable application architectures.

  • Experience with web analytics and optimization tools, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, event tracking, SEO, search tools, schema markup, A/B testing, or conversion measurement.

  • Experience supporting online learning, continuing education, Extension, lifelong learning, workforce education, higher education, public sector, nonprofit, or operationally complex digital environments.

  • Experience with Canvas, Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), registration systems, payment gateways, reporting tools, accessibility testing, WCAG, semantic markup, ARIA, assistive technology, or remediation of legacy accessibility constraints.

  • Experience working with IT, Salesforce, marketing, enrollment, learner success, academic, data, vendor, and cross-functional teams on learner-facing digital initiatives.
