Full job description
Position: Engineering Administrator
Job Location: Bohemia, NY
Expire Date: None
Description:
P.W. Grosser Consulting (PWGC) is a growing environmental and engineering firm where great work meets exceptional benefits. We cover 100% of medical insurance including full family coverage because we believe in truly taking care of our people.
Our team of hydrogeologists, environmental scientists, and engineers tackles challenging, meaningful projects across Long Island and beyond. You'll work alongside smart, passionate colleagues in a flexible environment that supports your growth, your license, and your life outside of work.
Join our award-winning culture at PWGC. If you're looking to work on exciting projects with an amazing team, we are seeking an organized and proactive Project Coordinator to join our team in an office-based role. This position will sit within our engineering team and provide day-to-day project support to our Project Managers across a range of project types, including marine permitting, industrial projects, Part 360 solid waste management, dewatering, water resources, engineering projects, and construction management. This role is essential to keeping projects on schedule and operations running smoothly. This is primarily an office-based position; occasional daytime travel to regulatory or municipal offices and client meetings should be expected.
This role is well suited to a candidate with a background in environmental science, engineering, or a related field — or comparable industry experience — who wants to apply that knowledge in a coordination and project-support capacity, working closely with Project Managers to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide dedicated project support to Project Managers, coordinating scheduling, timelines, and day-to-day tasks across a diverse portfolio of projects.
-
Monitor project progress against schedules, budgets, and scope; proactively flag upcoming deadlines, potential deviations, and emerging issues to Project Managers.
-
Develop and apply working knowledge of relevant NYS and local regulatory/permitting frameworks, including marine/dredging and wetlands permits, Part 360 solid waste management, SPDES and stormwater requirements, water resources permitting, and town/village requirements.
-
Assist in preparing and tracking permit applications and submittals (including joint applications for marine/dredging projects); monitor agency review timelines and help coordinate responses to comments from NYSDEC, USACE, and local boards.
-
Prepare, maintain, and interpret project documentation — schedules, status reports, tracking logs, permit conditions, and correspondence — ensuring accurate records and clear communication across project teams.
-
Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and regulators, representing the company professionally in all interactions.
-
Assist with formatting, proofreading, and QA/QC of technical reports, permit applications, figures, and tables.
-
Support project setup, proposal preparation, and billing/invoicing coordination as needed.
-
Schedule meetings and coordinate logistics for site visits, inspections, and regulatory/municipal meetings; occasional daytime travel required.
-
Additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience required; a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong industry or relevant professional experience in lieu of a technical degree will also be considered.
-
Will accept combination of Associates degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in an environmental, engineering, or construction-related industry, in either a technical/field capacity or a project coordination/support role.
-
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to support multiple Project Managers and competing deadlines simultaneously.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with scheduling or project management software a plus.
-
High attention to detail and strong follow-through.
-
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office environment.
Preferred
- Familiarity with NYS permitting processes (e.g., NYSDEC, Part 360, SPDES) and local town/village requirements, and comfort working with technical and regulatory content, strongly preferred.
Salary Range:
$65,000 - $75,000 Depending on Experience
