The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:

• Time Commitment: 25 hours per week

• Internship Duration: 9/8/26-12/11/2626 ****

• Location: 75% office and 25% remote in St. Petersburg office and Tampa Bay area for events.

• Salary: $23.00 per hour

• Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

• Event Logistics

• Support Tampa Bay’s Signature events: Go Red for Women, Heart Ball, and Heart Walk

• Assist with silent auction preparation, including managing donation forms, taking item photos, and writing item descriptions

• Assist with day/night of event operations, including set up, breakdown, and sales and payments

• Participate in weekly logistics meetings to provide updates on assigned projects or tasks

• Opportunity to learn and be involved in event timeline tracking and vendor selection and contracting process

• Volunteer Management

• Manage a volunteer database and respond to volunteer inquiries with upcoming opportunities

• Marketing and Collateral

• Design or edit slide decks, one-page overview documents, and other supplemental event materials

• Assist with preparing and mailing external communications

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in hospitality, business, event planning,

• Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills.

• Ability to interact professionally in a corporate, non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding communications and projects from inception through completion.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities with a strong attention to detail.

• Basic knowledge of Canva and Microsoft Office is a plus.

• Minimum availability 20hrs/wk, M-F; nights & weekends as needed for signature events.

• Required: Reliable Wi-Fi connection and reliable transportation.

• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 9am-5pm.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
