Job Description

What You’ll Do

As our Logistics Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day logistics operation and help ensure materials and products move safely, efficiently, and on time. You’ll oversee the team responsible for shipping, receiving, inventory, warehouse operations, and transportation while partnering closely with plant leadership and other functions across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys developing people, solving problems, improving processes, and keeping a busy operation running smoothly.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the logistics team. Plan daily staffing and schedules to make sure we have the right people in place to safely and efficiently ship and receive products.

  • Keep the operation moving. Oversee day-to-day shipping, receiving, housekeeping, warehouse maintenance, and inventory control activities.

  • Manage inventory and performance. Keep plant leadership informed of inventory levels, operational performance, and key logistics metrics.

  • Drive accuracy and accountability. Identify and address shipping and receiving errors, coach employees on performance, and follow the appropriate corrective-action process when needed.

  • Maintain a safe, organized warehouse. Ensure employees have the equipment and resources they need to work safely and efficiently, and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs for warehouse equipment.

  • Put safety first. Champion a safe, clean workplace and ensure the team follows Amcor policies as well as applicable OSHA, local, state, and federal requirements.

  • Manage transportation partners. Coordinate day-to-day carrier activity and work with internal and external partners to resolve transportation issues.

  • Coordinate material flow. Organize warehouse and plant layouts to support raw materials, finished goods, customer returns, inventory, special-handling requirements, and material transfers.

  • Coordinate rail activity. Manage railcar movements into and out of plant inventory.

  • Manage costs. Look for opportunities to control costs while maintaining strong service, safety, and operational performance.

  • Partner across the plant. Help coordinate Purchasing and Accounts Payable activities and work closely with Manufacturing and other departments to support plant needs.

  • Build a strong team. Interview and help select new team members, identify development opportunities, coordinate cross-training, and help employees grow their skills.

  • Manage performance. Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing coaching, and make recommendations regarding employee development, pay increases, and promotions based on performance and progress.

  • Keep employees connected. Hold team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, company policies, operational updates, and safety priorities.

  • Build strong working relationships. Partner effectively with coworkers, Customer Service, Sales, Corporate teams, third-party logistics providers, vendors, customers, and logistics leaders across the organization.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a strong fit for this role if you:

  • Have strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.

  • Are comfortable leading people in a fast-paced warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.

  • Are a proactive problem solver who can balance multiple priorities.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.

  • Can read, write, and understand English.

  • Are proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Know how to build effective relationships with employees, internal business partners, vendors, customers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.

  • Have knowledge of DOT requirements and applicable local regulations related to truck traffic.

Education & Experience Required

  • College degree or 3–5 years of relevant experience.

  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.

  • Previous experience in logistics, distribution, transportation, warehousing, or a related environment.

Safety

Safety is a key part of this role. You’ll help create an environment where employees look out for one another, follow established safety procedures, and address hazards before they become problems. You’ll regularly monitor the work area for potential hazards, equipment-safeguarding concerns, and housekeeping needs while ensuring compliance with applicable Amcor safety requirements.

Work Environment

This is an active role in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. You’ll regularly work around moving equipment and mechanical components, and noise levels can range from moderate to loud.

Because portions of the facility are affected by seasonal temperatures, you may experience warmer conditions during the spring and summer and colder conditions during the winter.

Most importantly, success in this role depends on teamwork. You’ll work closely with employees, plant leadership, Manufacturing, transportation partners, and other functions to keep the operation safe, efficient, and moving forward.

Our Expectations

We expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win. We are winning when:

  • Our people are engaged and developing as part of a high-performing Amcor team

  • Our customers grow and prosper from Amcor’s quality, service, and innovation

  • Our investors benefit from Amcor’s consistent growth and superior returns

  • The environment is better off because of Amcor’s leadership and products
