Position Overview
The Director of Transportation and Operation's leads all domestic line haul transportation operations, strategy, and carrier relationship management.
The Director of Line Haul Operations & Carrier Mgmt. is accountable for ensuring safe, scalable, and cost-effective logistics operations while enabling business growth, customer satisfaction, and operational resilience. The Director guides long-range network optimization, capacity planning, and technology strategy.
The Director of Line Haul Operations & Carrier Mgmt. requires visionary leadership and the capability to balance highest level operational execution with strategic planning while building and developing a high-performing and highly-engaged team.
A successful candidate is a forward-thinking logistics executive who combines deep operational expertise with strategic vision. They are capable of transforming logistics into a competitive advantage through operational excellence, service level optimization, technology adoption, organization capability building, and disciplined execution of long-term business objectives.
A Day in the Life
- Develop & implement line haul transportation strategy.
- Employ robust people leadership methods to drive employee engagement & accountability while developing future leaders and succession planning.
- Assess emerging technologies & develop multi-year transportation technology roadmap encompassing execution, optimization, visibility, and AI applications.
- Lead line haul network optimization efforts; exploiting inbound/outbound synergies
- Drive structured performance management program
- Manage strategic carrier relationships. Conduct QBR’s and key partnership meetings
- Partner with Procurement to ensure successful RFP outcomes; optimizing for service & cost.
- Drive transportation expense reduction, routing efficiency, dedicated capacity, and modal conversion opportunities.
- Direct intermediate-to-long-range capacity planning.
You'll Come With
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or Engineering-related field required.
Experience:
- 10-15 years experience in Logistics/Transportation or related field
- Retail Logistics experience preferred

Individual pay decisions will be based on a variety of factors, such as but not limited to, qualifications, education, job-related skills, relevant experience, and geographic location.
Compensation Range: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00
