As an Activities Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by designing and leading engaging recreational, social, and therapeutic activities. You’ll work closely with the Activities Director to foster meaningful connections, mental stimulation, and joy for those in our care.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and lead a variety of activities, from crafts and music sessions to exercise classes and social events, that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our residents.

Create opportunities for connection and stimulation within the Alice Center’s unique “neighborhoods,” ensuring activities resonate with our residents’ preferences.

Use therapeutic techniques to engage residents with cognitive impairments, such as dementia, in ways that promote emotional and mental well-being.

Assist in organizing special events, celebrations, and seasonal gatherings, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to create a vibrant atmosphere.

Maintain activity resources and supplies for each neighborhood’s shared spaces, ensuring residents enjoy seamless access to enriching programs.

Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on residents’ participation and progress to foster a sense of inclusion and community.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in recreational therapy or activity planning is a plus.

Experience working with seniors or in healthcare settings preferred.

Strong creativity, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Empathy and enthusiasm for improving the lives of elderly individuals.

BLS certification required.
Per Diem Requirements
-
Minimum of two 8-hour shifts per pay period, including two weekend shifts per month.

One minor and one major holiday shift annually.

Completion of required training and education within established timeframes.
